Dodger Fever Spreads to Marengo Elementary

Holly Lang’s second-grade class at Marengo Elementary is a happy place to be every school day, but this Friday morning, with the first game of the World Series looming, excitement bubbled over as students used their passion for the Los Angeles Dodgers to enhance their lessons.

Ms. Lang has transformed Room 8 into a shrine of Dodger blue, complete with bobbleheads and team paraphernalia. She incorporates the Dodgers into daily oral language lessons, math word problems, as well as into the standard of letter writing for students. With a big game coming, students have written good luck letters to the team or their favorite players.

This commitment to creative, student-centered learning has even caught the attention of local media. KTLA News was on-site with a reporter and videographer to capture the energy and dedication of the students, and the segments have aired throughout the day.

Go, Lions and Go, Dodgers!
